The business identified a niche in the market that was un-served and this required a totally new powder mix, at the time unavailable from their supply chain.
The opportunity was to develop an innovative product that could be used both in their own facilities to powder coat products for their customers, but also to supply to their network of global partners as a product in its own right.
With no off the shelf product on the market, S3B Machinery were approached in order to discuss the possibility of developing a powder mixing machine that was uprated to be able to cope with the heavier powders that were required for this new product.
With a total barrel capacity of 100 litres and a nominal mixing time of 6-8 minutes, the VH100 powder mixer was chosen as the platform, however a number of key components needed upgrading.
The funnel was restructured to cope with the industrial powders and the drive shaft upgraded to deal with the extra torque generated by a significantly more powerful motor. With a larger shaft in place, all the bearing were replaced too in order to improved performance and long term reliability.
